Idaho Senator Larry Craig soliciting an airport security officer for gay sex is just the latest in an increasingly long line of right-wing homosexual outings.
After being shocked about accusations that Mark Foley was pursuing young congressional pages, we barely had time to recover when we were hit with stories of drug use and homosexual liaisons involving, extreme right-wing fundamentalist minister and adviser to President Bush, Ted Haggard. Not to be outdone, Craig manages to get caught soliciting sex in a public restroom.
At first glance this just seems like a series of unfortunate events. But let’s look a little deeper. Did most of the bad apples just happen to fall off of the cart in the last year, or is this just the “real” Republican agenda being exposed? Maybe the real Republican agenda is not to oppose homosexuality, just homosexual marriage. They don’t want to replace John and Mary with John and Barry, they just want to see John and Barry wrestle in their gladiator costumes.
Maybe that’s why high school and college wrestling is so popular in red states.
My theory is that they want to keep gay sex dirty, nasty, and filthy. They fear that by allowing gay marriage, gay sex would become the same boring wake her/him up in the middle of the night 45 seconds of ecstasy that heterosexual sex becomes after marriage.
So give the Republicans a break, they just want to keep hot man on man on man on boy action alive for them to enjoy.
It should come as no surprise to those of us who’ve watched Bush and other Neo-Con Republicans of his ilk erode the freedoms that most Americans hold dear, but ‘W’ has put the cherry on top. The complete disregard of the constitution by our Commander in Chief in ordering wiretaps without court approval is unfathomable.
Our constitution provides for certain protections, and the idea that the very people who are supposed to uphold these protections would ignore them is beyond belief.
What has happened to the GOP?
- Refusing to control illegal immagration
- Enacting socialized medicine via the prescription drug program
- Supporting anti-business laws like the Wright Amendment
- Being unable to control spending while continuing to cut taxes
- The Senate attempting to block the Patriot Act extension, then turning around and passing an extension a week later!
(What an obvious case of getting the right headlines, then changing step to suit the President.)
This continuing shift away from Conservative principles is very troubling.
Remember, when you vote for the lesser of two evils you still get evil.
